My Style // Naturally Lux Hair

This isn’t about spending a fortune on the latest Morrocan Oil miracle cream or a lengthy trip to the hairdressers for a deep conditioner. Lux hair is something you can get at home, without breaking the bank or having to arrange childcare! This is about going back to basics, stepping away from the hair and beauty isle in Superdrug and using everyday ingredients in your kitchen to create a wonderful, moisturising, protein rich hair treatment suitable for all hair types.

Look in your fridge and pantry cupboards for the following:

Plain yoghurt
Olive oil
Apple cider vinegar*
Coconut oil*

*great additions, but you can make a conditioner without these

Now you can play around with the ratios until you find what works best for your individual needs, but for a first attempt why don’t you try the following?

Whisk the following until you have a light, mayonnaise style consistency.

2 eggs
100ml olive oil
200 ml plain yoghurt
3 tablespoons of honey
3 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
100 ml melted coconut oil

You can also add other oils, such as argan, peppermint, avocado or tea tree oil.

Spread the mixture evenly through your hair and leave in for 20-30 minutes. Rinse out with tepid water and style as usual. The conditioner should leave you hair feeling deeply nourished, silky and full of life.

For afro hair or other curly textures which crave moisture, this natural conditioner can be incorporated into your styling regime once per week. For straighter textures, twice a month should do it.
